These raku plate/dish are exclusive one-of-a-kind artistic renditions by local artist Javier Gaytan and Justin Bright

These lovely pieces are fired in an outdoor kiln to 1800 F, then placed molten into a pit filled with palm fronds or coconut husk and engulfed in flames. It is then rapidly cooled to achieved vivid colors. The raku glaze and technique insure that each piece is one-of-a-kind. Some pieces may resemble lava, these pieces are hand tooled when the clay is in its wet stage. Several tools are used to achieve a pahoehoe lava texture or a rough Aa' look
